Foot Prints in Sand - Mark Hargrave

One of my all time favourite poems. Read and enjoy :)

One night a man had a dream.
He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the Lord.
Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.
For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand;
one belonging to him, and the other to the Lord.
When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand.
He noticed that many times along the path of his life
there was only one set of footprints.
He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in his life.
This really bothered him and he questioned the Lord about it.
"Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way.
But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life,
there is only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why when I needed you most you would leave me."
The Lord replied, "My precious, precious child, I love you and I would never leave you.
During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you.

An 'Unexpected Email'

Sometimes life seems to play games with you. Or should I say fair games? ya - makes sense - anyway who cares?? You are only a part of a flow, a perfect rhythm, every thing under this sky and sun looks so beautiful, so pleasant, that the last thing you want is an 'unexpected email' lying in your inbox. (since you don’t know how to deal with it)

Believe me, during those times, you tend to attribute far lower value to the person who created the service of sending an email. You just want to grab that person’s neck and may be rule out his/her option of living in this world. Guess that is the effect of an unexpected email – an indomitable power to make you a murderer. :)

Best thing to keep in mind is - the next time you logon to your inbox, expect something unexpected and give a damn to it (that is what I learnt)!!!

With a rope of loose-spun thread am I towing
my boat upon the sea.
Would that God heard my prayer
and brought me safe across!
Like water in cups of unbaked clay
I run to waste.
Would God I were to reach my home

That reminds me

Breathes there the man with soul so dead,
Who never to himself hath said,
This is my own, MY NATIVE LAND!

Give life your best

If you can’t be the pine at the top of the hill
Be a shrub in the valley below.
The best little shrub in the valley below
Be a bush if you can’t be a tree.
If you can’t be a bush be a bit of the grass
And some highway happier make
If you can’t be a muskie, then just be a bass
But be the liveiest bass in the Lake!
We can’t all be captains, we’ve got to be crew
There’s something for all of us here
There’s big work to do and lesser to do
And the task we must do is near
If you can’t be a highway then just be a trail
If you can’t be the sun, be a star
It isn’t by size that you win or you fail
Be the best of whatever you are !!!! By - Douglas Malloch

Love

LOVE – A simple and sweet four letter word - craze for present generation and pride for the older lot. Sometimes, I do wonder what love is all about. Becoming an insomniac, thinking of some one in particular, butterflies in stomach, heart beat rising fast at one instant and going slow at the same instant, loss of appetite. Is that all what love is about………..Naaaaaa!!!! Must be something more to it......

Well, Dr.M.Scott Peck (author of The Road Less Travelled) explains – Love is too large, too deep to be truly understood or measured or limited within the frame work of words. Its actually the will to extend ones’ self for the purpose of nurturing one’s or another’s spiritual growth. The act of loving is an act of self - evolution even when the purpose of the act is someone else’s growth. Love is an act of will which implies choice. No matter how much we may think we are loving, if we are infact not loving, its because we have chosen not to love.

Two people love each other only when they are quite capable of living without each other but choose to live with each other. When we require another individual for our survival, we become a parasite on that individual. There is no choice, no freedom involved in the relationship. It is a matter of necessity rather than love.

Love is too vast to be explained. To some it can be a feeling, for others it can be a sort of commitment. I think being in love should mean - “Expect little and seek to give more”.
