Gandhi-Giri

Another Gandhi Jayanthi has passed and I kept marveling how far as a nation have we progressed. What has 60 years of Independence given us? What have we - as a nation achieved and how many of us are actually working for what Gandhi had dreamt? His dream – “India of my dreams” where he mentioned:

“I shall work for an India in which poorest shall feel that it is their country, in whose making they have an effective voice, an India in which there shall be no high class and low class of people ; an India in which all communities shall live in perfect harmony. There can be no room in such an India for the curse of untouchability, or the curse of intoxicating drinks and drugs. Women will enjoy the same rights as men. We shall be at peace with the rest of the world. This is India of my dreams.” I kept wondering how far has been his dream realized?

Perhaps, its sometimes good to question your own self - “What have I as a citizen of Indian done towards my own country?” One Mahatma was enough to dream but, well - I guess we need many more Mahatmas to make his dream come true.

Lets make an effort to bring a smile on just one face everyday. It can be anyone.

When you do good, you feel good, when you feel good, again you do good. This would keep atleast a bit of Gandhi alive in ourselves and would let that soul rest in peace.

I try doing this everyday and it actually works!
